Adult social care in North Tyneside

North Tyneside adult social care services provide a wide range of support to the residents including:

  • Providing information and advice, connecting residents to services in the community
  • Offering preventative services, to help maintain and improve their independence so they can continue to live at home for as long as possible
  • Offering short-term or urgent support to keep safe and well until their situation is stable and they are in a better position to make decisions about their long-term care.
  • Supporting with ongoing care and support to meet identified eligible needs

We ensure social care has the right people, skills, and support required to deliver the highest quality care now and in the future.

In 2023/24 the adult social care sector in England had an estimated 18,500 organisations with 40,000 care-providing locations and a workforce of around 1.84 million posts*.

In North Tyneside, there were an estimated 7,600 posts in adult social care, split between local authorities (7%), independent sector providers (78%), posts working for direct payment recipients (6%) and other sectors (9%). As of 2023/24, North Tyneside contained 81 CQC-regulated services; of these, 43 were residential and 38 were nonresidential services*.
