North Tyneside Employment & Skills fantastic Get into Social Care short introductory course is running again this June and there’s still spaces available to sign up.

The course will start on Monday 10 July 2023 and is open to anyone who is unemployed over the age of 18 and is looking to work in Social Care.

On this course you’ll learn from classroom-based teaching and practical demonstration of skills. Some of the training is online, and the trainer will provide you access to a laptop but you can bring your own if you prefer.

What is involved?

The course is specially designed to help you grow your confidence in your skills and abilities to work in social care by introducing you to the sector. You’ll learn a lot and develop new skills and access support including:

  • Find out about the various roles available
  • Understand the role of a carer
  • Learn about safeguarding, moving and handling, spotting changes in behaviour and more
  • Practical training in simulated care pods with equipment and resources available to practice skills
  • Explore the roles that best suit you (part time and full time)
  • Support with job search, applications and interview preparations
