Workshop and Gardening Supervisor

Full-time, Permanent, 22.5 hours per week
Job Purpose
We are seeking motivated, value driven, flexible staff to work with adults with learning disabilities / difficulties, mental health needs or acquired brain injuries. We are looking for a candidate that can become our on-site handyperson, able to run activities within our workshop and to support our commercial gardening service as required.
Duties include:
- Planning and facilitating activities within Key Enterprises and the wider community using your skills to support learning and the completion of tasks.
- Supporting service users to complete appropriate tasks safely.
- To undertake commercial and domestic gardening work to help raise funds to support the charity while providing a real work experience.
- Utilise the fully equipped workshop facilities to design and fabricate items to support our service.
- Ensure tools and equipment are well maintained and safely operated.
- To actively promote the company with the objective of attracting new gardening contracts and outdoor projects.
- Maintain an awareness of the changing needs of service users.
- Operate under the general direction of the Company’s Management and Board and comply with all approved policies and procedures.
- Work flexibly to cover staff absences.
Essential Criteria:
- Experience of using commercial power tools and gardening equipment.
- Able to plan and organise effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to communicate with a range of people, using a variety of communication methods.
- Possess the required values of empathy, kindness, integrity and respect.
- A passion for working with people with additional needs and providing person-centred support.
- Understand confidentiality.
- Competent in the use of IT including Office products.
- Self-motivation and an ability to work independently.
- Hold an awareness of safeguarding principles and their practical application.
- Experience of working with vulnerable people.
- Hold a full-clean driving licence.
- Ability to work in adherence to all health and safety recommendations.
Desirable skills:
- An awareness of a mental illness, learning disabilities /difficulties or day services.
- Understand the principles of safeguarding.
