Job Purpose

A lunchtime supervisor facilitates supervisors being able to take their lunch-break away from service user contact. Supervise reheating of meals and provision of refreshments.

Duties include:

  • Supervise service users with mental health needs, acquired brain injuries and learning disabilities / difficulties at lunchtime within the Key Enterprises canteen area.
  • With the support of service users, clean canteen surfaces, wash any dishes and store dried items appropriately. Hoover and mop floors as required.
  • To interact positively and establish good relationships with all service users and other staff as necessary.
  • To ensure service users enjoy lunchtime, healthy eating and a relaxed, engaging environment.
  • At all times to work within Key Enterprises policies regarding: Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Confidentiality, Risk Management.
  • Carry out responsibilities under the direction and guidance of the post’s manager.
  • Always listen to service users concerns and respond appropriately.
  • Deal with difficult or challenging behaviour by service users in a calm and professional way. Escalate to a manager as required.
  • Ensure that all service users who suffer any injury or accident are dealt with appropriately and in accordance with the school’s agreed procedures.
  • Report any serious concerns regarding service users’ welfare or behaviour to the post’s manager.
  • Assisting where necessary in ensuring that all those who are on the premises at lunchtime have authority to be there.

Essential criteria:

  • An awareness of safeguarding principles and their practical application.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people.
  • Possess the required values of empathy, kindness, integrity and respect.
